Currently the lack of rains and population growth the increase in extraction from ground water tables has led to a sharp drop in these resources and on the other hand the consumption of nonrenewable strategic water reserves has also reached a worrying situation. The limitation of the countries water resources in terms of quantity and quality improper use of surface and underground water resources lack of proper and principled management and planning to use the available amount of water has increased concerns about drought and the intensification of the water crisis especially in arid and semi-arid areas in eastern Iran. Therefore in order to deal with drought and prevent the water crisis from intensifying it is necessary to pay attention to coexistence with water scarcity and use programs and solutions based on this importance. Today we must turn the threat into an opportunity and make up for the deficiencies by using effective solutions.
Using new technologies in water treatment, desalination of brackish water, water resources management such as remote monitoring of water resources, modeling of surface and ground water resources, modeling and design of water and sewage networks ,water quality sensors, water leakage detection sensors, water control and dispatching centers, energy management In water and sewage activities, spatial information systems, management of water demand and consumption and water recycling can help to solve part of the countries water problems and optimal planning and management of water resources.
It is our pleasure to inform researchers of universities, research centers and experts in water authorities, interested parties and experts in the water sector that the first international conference on modeling and new technologies in water management will be held on 21st and 22nd February 2023 in at University of Birjand. This conference as one of the scientific events focuses on the main challenges of water resources management in arid and semi-arid regions of Iran. We hope this conference will bring together all water researchers and their achievements from different countries will present the way for optimal planning and management of water resources.
All those involved in the water sector are invited to send their scientific and research findings and achievements to this scientific gathering for presentation and publication. All articles of this conference will be indexed in the Islamic World Citation Database (ISC).
